PAHIATUA, Aug. 3. Mrs A. J. Butler, of Hamilton, is visiting Pahiatua and is the guest of her daughter, Mrs W. H. Murch. Mr M Crane, of Pahiatua, leaves shortlv’for Wellington. Mr Crane has taken a keen interest in sporting circles, being secretary of the Bush Keferees’ Association and the ilusn Basketball Association. . Over £lO was raised by the Pahiatua Sheep Dog Trials Club at its “shpp” yesterday. , , The following are the results of the senior Bush basketball championship, which was concluded last evening: - Eovers 13 v. Waratahs 11; Komni 20 v. Athletic 14. The 1937 champions are Rovers with 14 points, Konini being runners-up with 11; Waratahs are next with 6 and Swifts 3. The junior championship goes to High School with 19 points; Papatawa being runners-up with 16. Woodville 13, Ngawapurua 7, Athletic A S and Athletic B nil were next. The following scores were registered at the weekly shoot of the Makomako Miniature Rifle Club: W. G. basing, 98 — 96 —194; J. Day, 98— K. Claris, 93—96—189; J. Sargent, 95 —93—188; C. Garliek, 95—92—187; ,T Garliek, 93—92—185; F. Ebbett, 94—91 —185; G. Day, 90—94—184; C. Eddie, 87—94—181; A. Andrews, 82—81—163.
