NEW BOUNDARIES

ELECTORAL DISTRICTS. THE PROPOSED AREAS. Complete details of the alterations to the electoral boundaries of the Dominion proposed by the Representation Commissions are published in the Gazette issued this week and make clear the import of the decisions. Of particular interest a.re the definitions of the electoral boundaries in the Manawatu. and adjacent districts. The Palmerston District, it is announced, “comprises the whole of the city of Palmerston North.”

The Manawatu district is bounded on the north and east generally by the Rangitikei, Waipawa, Pahiatua and Masterton electoral districts from the ocean at the mouth of the Rangitikei River to the summit of the Tararua Range at the southern boundary of Manawatu County; thence bounded towards the south generally by the southern boundary of the Manawatu County, to and along the southern, eastern and northern boundaries of the Borough of Foxton, to and along the Foxton-San-son railway line, to and along the northern boundary of the Awahou riding of the Manawatu County to the ocean; thence bounded towa.rds the west by the ocean to the mouth of the Rangitikei River, the place of commencement, excluding the Palmerston electoral district. The Rangitikei district is bounded on the west, north, and east generally by the Wanganui, Patea, Waimarino, and Waipawa electoral districts boundaries from the mouth of the Wanganui River to the Ruahine Range at the southern boundary of Kiwitea County; thence by the Krwitea County boundary to and along the Oroua River, to and along Forlong’s Road in the Western riding of the Oroua County; thence by the Makino, Junction, and Stanway Roads to and along the road forming the northern boundary of Haleombe township, to and along the Main Trunk railway line, to and along the Rangitikei River to the ocean, anti by the ocean to the mouth of the Wanganui River, the place of commencement.

The Otnki district is bounded towards the north and east generally by the Manawatu, Masterton, and Wairarapa electoral districts from the ocean at the northern boundary of the Awahou riding of the Manawatu County to the summit of the Tararua Range at Mount Hector; thence by the northern boundary of the Hutt County, to and along the western boundaries of the Mungaroa, Heretaunga, and Epuni ridings of the Hutt County, to and along the eastern boundary of Makara County, to and along the southern boundary of Section 27, north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Section 7, all of Block Vl-J.l, Belmont survey district, to and along the Takapu Road, to and along the eastern and northern boundaries of the Tawa riding and northern boundary of the Ohariu riding, all of the said Makara County, to the ocean; thence bounded towards the west by the ocean to the northern boundary of the Awahou riding of Manawatu County, the plate of commencement, including Mana, Kapiti, and adjacent islands. The Pahiatua district comprises the existing Pahiatua electoral district less that portion of the Tararua riding of Pahiatua County lying between the existing Pahiatua electoral district boundary, and the north-eastern and southeastern boundaries of the Tararua riding. This district now includes the Norscwood and that part of the Matamau Riding of Dannevirke County, together with that part of the Takapau riding of Waipawa County now excluded from the Waipawa electoral district. The Masterton district comprises the existing Masterton electoral district together wtih that portion of the Tararua riding of the Pahiatua County now excluded from the existing Pahiatua electoral district; also includes the north riding of Castlepoint County and that portion of the west riding of the said Castlepoint County lying between the existing Masterton electoral district boundary and the southern and eastern boundaries of the west riding; also includes that portion of the Upper Taueru riding of the Masterton County lying between the existing Masterton electoral district boundary and the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Upper Taueru riding; also that portion of the Tewhiti riding of the Masterton County and the eastern boundary of the riding and the northern boundary of the Wairarapa South County ; also the whole of the Belvedere riding of the Wairarapa South County and that part of the Parkvale riding of the Wairarapa South County lying between the existing Masterton electoral district boundary, the north-eastern side of Francis Road, the south-eastern side of Dorset Road, the north-western side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections 1, 11, 32, and 110, Blocks XI and XV, Tiffin Survey district, and the Ruamahanga River.
