The lambing season is under way on most farms in the district and indications are for a good season. Mr E. P. Nielsen, superintendent of the local Sunday school, and Bible class loader, entertained the Bible class members at tea on Sunday evening. Mr Nielsen is shortly leaving the district and will be greatly missed in this department ol church work.
The local Football Club have almost completed a strenuous season in tho Manawatu Rugby Union competitions. Although not holding a conspicuous place on the points ladder, the team, especially at the beginning of the season, played sterling football. As always in a country team, difficulty was experienced in fielding an identical team for two consecutive Saturdays, the combination suffering as a result. This, together with the fact that the players received an extremely large share of injuries, accounted for the numerous reverses the club received. The club, however, is looking forward, to a more successful season next year, when several prominent players have signified their intention of becoming active members. Misses J. ilearscy and M. Rowland have returned from a holiday spent with friends at Wellington. Mrs Lover has returned from a holiday spent wiah relatives in the Wairarapa. Mrs M. Richardson and her two daughters have been spending a few days in the Capital City. Mrs McNae, of Apiti. is the guest of Mrs Lover. The friends of Mr G. James wil be pleased to learn that he is greatly improved in health.
