STEADY IMPROVEMENT
BETTER LIVING HABITS.
Received August 4, 11.20 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 3. Tlie lowest tuberculosis death rate recorded is disclosed in the year’s report of the Ministry of Health. There is less maternal mortality and steady progress in other branches of national health.
The Minister (Sir Kingsley Wood) declared that English men and women, and particularly children, were enjoying a. healthier and‘fuller life than at any time since the industrial revolution.
The maternal mortality rate, 3.81 per thousand, was lower than four per thousand for the first year since 1924. The improvements are attributed to better living habits, the removal of slums, and purer milk.
