DRAMA CIRCLE ENTERTAINS.
THREE ONE-ACT PLAYS PRESENTED. Delightful entertainment was provided by St. Andrew’s Drama Circle in St. Andrew’s Hall, last night, when three one-act plays were presented. The large audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening and was not slow to show its appreciation of the excellent performances of the players. Special mention must be made of the work of Mis G. C. Petersen in producing the plays, the success they achieved being evidence of her capabilities in this direction.
The first play, “The Dear Departed,” was an amusing comedy with the humour well brought out, following which “There Is No Return,” a play in striking contrast, was presented. “Mrs Biddlecombe and the Furriners,” however, was the crowning performance, and left the audience keenly anticipating the next appearance before the public of the Drama Circle. Thanks wore conveyed to Mrs Petersen by Rev. J. Hubbard, who expressed appreciation of her untiring work in producing the plays, and presented her with a book from the members of the casts. He also thanked Mrs Adcock for playing pianoforte interludes between the plays. Mrs Petersen was also presented with a bouquet- from the circle by Airs Hubbard.
Returning thanks, Airs Petersen paid a tribute to those who had taken part. The casts were ns follow: “Thn Dear Departed,” a comedy (Stanlev Houghton) : Airs Slater, Aliss L. C.
