TE ARAKURA
(Prom Our Own Correspondent.) T’E ARAKURA, Aug. 4. An enjoyable time was spent at the Te Arakura Hull, when a euchre and dance was hold in aid of the local drama circle. A euchro tournament was hold in tho sup-per-room, while in the hall dances wore enjoyed. Tho duties of M.C. were in the hands of Messrs T. Lawton and H. llaythorne, an extra being played by Mr If. Sullivan. The winners of tho euchro tournament were :—Ladies, Mm A. Hume 1, Mm Bassett 2; men, Mr G. McKinnon 1, Mr W. Lewis 2. Novelty dances: Lucky spot waltz, Mr S. Death and Miss J. Death; lucky Gay Gordons, Miss 0. Thomas and Mr S. Death; lucky card waltz, Miss V. Whisker and partner. Mr Hnythorne extended hearty congratulations to the drama circle for their success at, tho Drama Festival in tying with the Milson team iy,winning tho silver cup awarded for tho best all-women’s (cam. Air Ha.vlborno also extended congratulations to Mrs Whisker, the producer of the play, “A Alarriago Has Been Disarranged,” who was presented with a dainty bouquet of anemones, thrift and brown birch bv Audrey Firth. Thanks arc also duo to Mr Renwick for his valuablo assistance in connection with tho staging of the play. Thanks wore extended to Mr J. J. Hume, Mrs ILaythorne and Mrs Pack wood for the donation of prizes; Mr J. J. Hume, who was in charge of tho tournament, the Al.C.’s and the door attendants, Air J. Hodgo and Mr N. Hansen.
