THIRD AMERICA'S CUP RACE. Received August 5, 1.45 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 4. Less decisively beaten in tho third America’s Cup race than hitherto, the Endeavour II nevertheless finished 500 yards and four minutes 27 seconds after the Ranger, whose superiority, speed and case in handling are now definitely established. The winner’s elapsed time Wft6 three hours 54 minutes 20 seconds. She crossed the starting lino . first in a twelve-mile wind, which, however, began to diminish soon, dropping to ten miles. The Ranger found tho light air to her liking and rapidly forged threequarters of a mile ahead. The Endeavour, however, began to catch up when the wind perceptibly freshened, and had made up 'a quarter of a mile at the half-way mark. Tho British boat continued to diminish her opponent’s lead when the wind increased to 15 miles, but it was impossible to overtake the Ranger over the remaining distance. The Ranger is believed to have set a new record for the beat to windward on the first fifteen miles. The unofficial time was two hours eight minutes 40 seconds. Earlier details appear on page 0.
