THE CHANNEL SWUM.
GRIS NEZ TO DOVER. CONDITIONS FAVOURABLE. Received August 5, 9.25 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 4. A Nottingham man ; Tom Blower, aged 23, whom, his pilot describes as ,“a human torpedo and the fastest Channel swimmer I have piloted,” opened the Channel swimming season to-day. He started from Gris Nez at 4 a.m. and landed at Dover at 6.26 p.m. Conditions were favourable. OFFICIAL TIME. Received August 5, 12.10 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 4. Blower’s official time was 13 hours 29 minutes.
