TENSION IN CHINA.
LEADERS GATHERING. CONFERENCE ARRANGED. Received August 5 12.10 p.m. NANKING, Aug. 4. Dangerous Sino-Japaneso tension continues but the troops sent north by the Chinese Central Government and the Japanese forces there have not yet come to grips. The principal military leaders in China are gathering at Nanking for an exchange of views with the Prime Minister and General Ohiang Kai-shek. Parliament will meet on August 8 to pass Bills dealing with the state of emergency.
MOVE TO PEKIN. CHINESE VETERAN TROOPS. TIENTSIN, Aug. 4. The special correspondent of the British United Press news agency with the Chinese Government Army states that the veteran Eighty-ninth Division moved through the Nankou Pass and encamped within 15 miles of the walls of Pekin. The army is apparently determined to figt. Troops arrived by train from Tatungu and were repeatedly bombed by Japanese ’planes, which caused some damage.
