THE POLISH THRONE.

INVITATION TO DUKE OF KENT. MOTION BY MONARCHISTS. LONDON, Aug. 4. The Warsaw correspondent of the Daily Mirror reports that the executive of the Polish Monarchist Party passed a motion inviting the Duke of Kent to accept the Polish throne, which has been vacant since 1795. The motion is being sent to the Duke of Kent, who is at present visiting southern Poland. The Monarchist organ Glos points out that Poland is situated between Russia and Germany. “If Poland bad the Duke of Kent as King she would be linked with the world’s greatest Empire and greatest democracy. The Duke of Kent possesses all the attributes necessary for a monarch.” Before King George of Greece regained his throne in November, 1935, there was some talk of the throne being offered to the Duke of Kent. The King of Greece is a cousin of the Duchess of Kent.
