THE RANGER’S WIN
3.45 P.M. EDITION
CREWS CHEER EACH OTHER. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 6, 2.17 p m. MONTREAL, Aug. 5. , The Ranger won by 3min. 37sec. The elapsed time for the race was 3hr. 7min. 49sec., eclipsing the Endeavour I’s record for the triangular course by 72seo. Endeavour 11 equalled the Ranger’s time for the third leg, 52min 48sec, and negotiated the second leg in 30see. faster than the Ranger. Experts consider the defender’s superiority in the series is plain. The tact that she is a higher-pointing boat, coupled with consistent bad luck and the bad handling of the End. avour, accounted for the Ranger’s mean sweep. The crews of both yachts cheered each other at the conclusion to-day.
