WOODVILLE.
WOODVILLE. Aug. 5. Practically all the settlers of the Papatawa district gathered on Tuesday evening to farewell Mr W. McCouaghty who has resided at Papatawa for the past 34 years. Games of cards were enjoyed while the younger people indulged in dancing, music being supplied by Mrs O’Hnken and Messrs P. Parker and L. Gleadow. Mr A. I*l. Dickins voiced the regret of all the residents at Mr McConaghty’s departure and asked his acceptance of set of pipes and a tobacco pouch. Except for his absence at the . Great AVar, Mr McConnghty had resided in the district continuously. and the speaker paid a tribute to his sterling qualities. The vital statistics for the AA'oodville district for July were as follow : Births 5, deaths 2, marriages 2. During July rain fell in Woodville on 18 days the heaviest fall being • BCin. on tbe 23rd. The total was 2.13 in.
