TRINIDAD RIOTS.
PREPARATIONS FOR INQUIRY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 4. The chairman and the United Kingdom memliers of the Commission of Inquiry appointed to inquire into recent disturbances in Trinidad hope to lie able to start work in London shortly and to take evidence from interested parties in the third week of August before their departure to the colony.
Rioting broke out on' the oilfields of Trinidad during June, and naval aid was summoned. A sub-inspector and a corporal were reported as killed, many police and civilians wounded, and damage done to properly. Subsequently the Colonial Secretary (Mr \V. Ormsby-Gore) informed the House of Commons that the commission “to inquire into and report upon the origin and character of recent disturbances in tbe colony of Trinidad and Tobago and all matters relating thereto, to consider tbe adequacy of steps taken to deal with these disturbances, and to make recommendations,” would consist oi a chairman and two members from tbe United Kingdom and two members from Trinidad.
