NEARLY AT SYDNEY.
AWATEA AND MONTEREY. SYDNEY, Aug. 8. The Awatea is expected to berth in the morning about 8 o’clock and the Monterey a few hours later. Both encountered bad weather in the early part of the voyage from Auckland, which precluded anything in the shape of a record, hut it is expected that the actual steaming time across the Tasman will reveal little difference between the two ships.
