KAIRANGA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, Sept. 16. Mrs Davey presided at the September institute meeting. Mrs Caverhill w’rote thanking members lor their good wishes during her recent illness. As Miss Johnson, of Massey College, will bo present atr the November meeting, it was decided that an invitation be extended to the ladies of the district to be present. Schedules were distributed for the Bower show and judges were proposed for the different sections. Miss Eglinton was thanked for preparing schedules. A donation is to be sent to Mr Twomey, ( of Chnsichurch. for the lepers. Soldiers Christmas parcels are to be packed in October tor the local men, several members donating cakea, and biscuits to be included. Competitions resulted:—Three blooms, Mr# Turner 1, Mrs Prouse and Miss Ki gour, equal 2 Mrs L. Clark 3; bowl of bums, Mrs Kilgour 1, Mrs Clark 2, Mrs Meager 3; vase of bulbs, Miss Kilgour 1, Miss Meager 2. Next month’s competition is for a hot-water bottle cover (either material or knitted); roll-call, queer advertisements. Hostesses: Mesdames J. Clark, L. Clark, Coup and Green. The annual meeting of the Ivairanga Tennis Club was held recently, Mr L. Clark presiding. Hie report and balancesheet was road by the secretary (Mr \V. Harrison). The balance-sheet showed a very creditable balance with which to start the new season. The following committee for the ensuing year was elected: President, Mr L. Clark (re-clectcd); secretary arid vice-president, Mr R. Mildon; club captain, Mr I. Davey; vice-captain. Mi«s F. Eglinton; other members, Misses T. Davey, J. Newman, N. Lewis and Mr A. Williams. It w’as decided to hold a working-bee and open the courts early in October. Messrs 0. Col 1 is. 11. Coker, F. Cummins and N. Ilyde were the winning players ai hk* iemk fia# 600 party.
