Te Whetu and Shark All horses jumped splendidly, but Te Whetu had bast place at secnd hurdle ; Grey more- fell, throwing Mclvor, his rider, who seems badly hurt. Wellington Cup. — This was awonderfully good race, a hot pace .being kept up from start to finish, Lara jumping away with lead after several false starts, and kept it throughout, very hard pushed by Trump Card and Otupai. Tremendous excitement when horses entered straight, deafening cries of "Lara" heing raised. Eight started. Lara won by about a length ; Trump Card, 2 ; Otupai, 3.
