RIFLE SHOOTING.
Thursday was a gala day vrith prir Vohmtec Corps, the day having been appointed for the -shooting for the. Company's medal, the Paribaka prizes, and the list of prizes given by the general public for Volunteer rifle competition' at the butts.. At half-past ten o'clock m the moruinjr, the company musiered. at the Town Hall, under command of Lieutenant Marsh, an 1 headed by tbe Band marched dowu the Fitzberbcrt Road to the scone of action- The day was exceptionally good for shooting— the breeze being very light, andi th»snn partiaJiy obscured. Contrary fOttlie general rtSe, the shooting on the whole was very poor, not one of the marksmen- having attained thtir usual averajjesi Private E. Snow was the winner of tbe- medal -witfra score of 30, out of a possible 40, but itwUtba: seen that even this score was not ap to his usual mark.
