MR CARREER'S PARTY. Per Press Assopiation. Hew Plymouth, Jan. 8. Mr Carkeek, who is surveying the Mokau route, has returned with the ba> lance of his party, One man strained himself and had to be sen. for medical attendance. Another is sick with fever. This and swollen rivers through constant rains have impeded progress. No great engineering difficulties were met with. There is no toundation m fact tor the report from Auckland. He was within a few miles of Mr Rochfort, and would have gone through but for the accident and sickness.
