Municipal Inconsistency.
To the Editor. Sm, — A good deal has been said lately on both sides about the Borough finances ; but there is one thing that has not yet been pointed out. When the late Mayor's loan scheme was started, we were told that whether w^ 7oted for it or not we would have t. jay an extra shilling rate. When Caat fell through we were told that whether we voted for the next scheme or .not — 'the Mayor's — we should have to pay an extra ninepenny rais. But now, after both schemes are relected, the Council determines only on an extra sixpenny rate. What, are we to think, sir?. And Echo answers, What? lam, &c, ■ .:;•■••■ CoySISTENCY.
