Spiritualism.

To the Editor. > Sir, — By your valuable journal I see spiritualistic meetings are being held m Palmerston, and many of us are deeply grieved to see this take root m Manawatu. Hitherto there has been of course some unbelievers, but I have not before heard that aiiy ; of the people were so far lapsed from the Truth as to seek m this way ;I to soothe their consciences. Such ,per- , sons generally tlirow the Bible over^, board. Surely the God who made us can speak to us through other men. Yet these Spiritualists want to make the Bible out a myth, at the same time asserting that spirits can speak through other men's bodies and faculties. People who. believe thus are surely most inconsistent.. They should remember what was said to the rich man, that if people do not believe what - Moses and the Prophets say they would not believe if one rose from the dead. I hope this Spiritualism will die out, and that the Manawatu people will stick to the good old lines — " Holy Bible, book divine, precious treasure, thou art mine !" Apologising for trespassing on your space, but I wanted just to raise a note of warning, I inscribe myself, A Lover of Eevelation. Karere, Feb. 14, 1884.
