July 1. Mr Mirams m the Legislative Assembly has decided to move an amendment to the resolution's re Sydney Convention with the object of restraining the proposed federal Council from legislating on Colonial tariff questions. The debate on the resolutions stands further adjourned. All the Australasian Governments expect New Zealand have replied favorably to the proposal to guarantee of £15,000 for expense attaching to exten» sion of British rule m the Pacific. The reply of the New South Wales Govern* ment, though favorable was not quite definite. In the Legislative Assembly last night a Rill providing for amalgamation of tho legal professors was agreed to on a division.
