Heavy Floods at Wairarapa.
Per Press Association. Wellington, September 2. Pears were entertained m Master* ton for the safety of the Wangaroa railway bridge. A pilot engine pros ceeded the train to-day. Both the Ruamahahga and Waingawa rivers have overflowed their banks near the railway works. There is a heavy flood m town. Mr J. v Petersen, an elderly man, m charge of Mr Macara's farm at Opaki, was drowned to-day m the Waipona River, while trying to rescue sreep from flooded land, ' . Later. : The Waikawa railway bridge, on the Wellington -Masterton railway line, has been washed away by heavy floods. It will take at least a month 'before traffic can be resumed.
