Death of Mr T. W. Postans.

"We deeply regret to have to record the death of Mr T. W. Postans, head-taacher of the Marton public school* iwhich took place to-day at at 2 p.m., the cause being typhoid fe~verV The deceased gentleman only tpjpit , to his bed on Monday, last, having bravely stuck to his work until then. , r Dr Skertnan was called m, and made every effort to save the life of his patient, but a naturally weak constitution helped the terrible disease by which Mr Postans w»s attacked. During his illness, Mr Postans was most carefully nursed by his wife and a number of friends, aad received every attention that loving care could provide. Mr Postans was a native of Enfield, near London, and was only 84 years of age. : He had been for a : number of years m the employment of the Wanganui Education Board, and was a most painstaking and conscientious teacher. After being engaged m a number of other schools, he took charge of. the South Makirikiri school, from which he was transferred to the charge of the Bulls school. He subsequently took a trip England ; and, on his return- to &ew Zealand, assumed the head teachership of the Marton school, which he held till his death. About eighteen months ago he married a daughter of Mr Flavall, of Halcombe, who, with one child, survives him. We understand that the life of the deceased was insured m several offices for various sums,, amounting altogether to about £500. — Advocate.
