Mr Leslie McHardy met.with, a very; severe accident ut Blackhead on Monday last.. He was. on a staging 13ft high outside his house, fixing some telephone wires, when tho staging collapsed, Mr Mcllardy fell on his head, sustaining concussion of the brain. A doctor was summoned, but owing to the distance that had to be traversed, about 34 miles, it was some time before ho arrived. Fortunately two ladies, nurßes, were wero stayiDg in tho house, and they were able to give efficient aid to. the sufferer. Mr McHardy is now progressing favorably. G. H. Moore, an early settler in North Canterbury, died yesterday (states a Christchurch message) aged 92. -He was the owner of tho Glenmark and Wakanui Estates, both of which ho hod disposed of before his death. Ho was a Manxman, and was partner of Mr. Kermore, a well-known Tasmanian pastor aiist.. It was resolved at the Alliance Convention, amid cheers and the singing of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," "That this Convention feels it cannot bring its I Missions to a close without placing upon Record its deep sense of tho obligation of whe party throughout tho colony to the Rev F. W. Tsitt, the Secretary of the New Zealand Alliance, who has, with splendid Belf-sacrifice, given his time and talents wholly to the work of the party, and who has, by his enthusiasm and his kindly, generous courtesy, endeared himself to all his fellow-workers." Mr Isitt ;was carried shoulder-high to tho platform to reply. Some surprise was caused in religious 'circles in Wellington when, on the occasion of his resigning the pastorate of tbe Courtney Place Congregational Church last year, it was reported that the Rev. W. Newman Hall intended to join the Anglican Church.
