SCHOOL TEACHERS.

A well-attended thoroughly representative meeting of. South Canterbury teachers was held hero to-day, when Mr W. Davidson, cf Dunedin, a member of the cxecutivo of tho NZ. E.I, gave an explanation in regard to the superannuation scheme as recommended by the recent Conference at Wellington.
A resolution was passed unanimously that the teachers of South Canterbury assembled record their apprec ation of education progress made in the colony during the past few years, especially as regards tho adoption of tho colonial scale of salaries ; that they approve of the recommendations of the recant Conference on superannuation, and respectfully urge upon the Government the desirability of placing upon tbo Statute Book this session a Bill embodying these recommendations.
