A Nelson telegram states that Mr W. M.Stanton, a very old settler, died last night.
On Tuesday last Miss Clara Ann Kyinan, eldest daughter of Mr J. Byman, Kairanga, was married to Mr E. Secord, only son of Mr'R. Secord, of Bangiora.
News from Wellington is. far from satisfactory regarding the health of Mr W. T.. Wood, M.H.R His medical advisers absolutely forbid him from woririDg long hours or undergoing any extreme physical oideal or excitement. Mr F. Mowlem returned from a trip to Syduey on Wednesday evening, having spent a very enjoyable-holiday. Our Foxton correspondent writes:— Mr F. W.Frankland, of Foxton, intends standing as a candidate for Parliamentary honours for the Manawalu electorate in November. Mr Frankland informs me that he is an Independent Liberal. He was for some time an Actuary in the New York Life Insurance Company, and has had a large business experience in the United States, India, and elsewhere.
