Terrace End School

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Terrace End school committee was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. W. B. Cameron presiding. Also present were Messrs. W. L. Macpherson (treasurer), J. Allan, W. Petersen, If. R. Smith, W. B. Torment, J. H. Nash and C. R. Luke (secretary). A letter was received from the Wanganui Education Board stating that the question of a subsidy towards the cost of a motor lawn mower would be considered at the next meeting of tho board. —The chairman stated that when Messrs. Hemingway (chairman) and Swangcr (secretary) visited tho school last month, they had been shown the improvements effected to the school grounds and had expressed their delight at the surroundings. A request had then been made for a subsidy towards the cost of a motor mower and it was viewed favourably by tho chairman (Mr. Hemingway) who had asked that the application bo put in writing. The Y.M.C.A. Swimming Club applied for particulars governing the use of the swimming bath.—The secretary reported that these had been supplied and the club had decided to use the municipal baths. The question of voting for the city members of the School Committees’ Association executive was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary.

The treasurer reported that, at the end of the month, there should be a credit of £34, and at the end of the financial year about £2O in hand. The headmaster thanked the committee for their co-operation during the year and extended to them the compliments of the season which were reciprocated by the chairman.
