Oxford Win Rugby Match

CAMBRIDGE FALL AWAY IN SECOND SPELL. AUCKLANDER PLAYS WELL IN WINNING TEAM United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, Dec, 6. In the presence of a record crowd of 45,000, Oxford defeated Cambridge at Rugby football by 8 points to 3. Dominion men were prominent in the game. Cambridge early in the game were superior, but a splendid try by Speedy (tho Auckland winger) and Minns enabled Oxford to draw level, and at half-time the scores stood three all. Thereafter Oxford dominated tho scrummages and played the better gamo all round. Lamport (captain), of Sydney, worked the scrums cleverly and started a movement enabling Minns to score another try, which Jenkins brilliantly, converted. The South African Test cricketer, Owen Smith, was Oxford’s full-back. He was skilful throughout. Last year’s contest ended in a draw —three all.
