Manawatu Croquet Association Tourney
NEARING FINAL STAGES.
With a number of tho same players still in the various events progress was consequently slow in the Manawatu Croquet Association's annual tournament at Manawatu greens yesterday. At tho eloso of tho fourth day's play, however, several semi-finals had been reached and tho final of the B championship between Mrs. Burnett and C. Bryan was unfinished. It is expected that several finals will be played this afternoon. Following are yesterday’s results: — Open Championship. E. Simpson boat Mrs. Wilson, 26 —6. • Handicap Singles—A Grade. , * Mrs. MeMurray (3J) boat Mrs. E. Simpson (scr.), 26—17; Mrs. Tucker (4). beat Mrs. Dickel (3), 26 —21; E. Simpson (3) beat Mrs. Bryan (34), 26 —10. Club Pairs Championship. Mesdamcs Anstis and E. Simpson beat Mcsdames Mayes and T. Simpson, 26—11. Handicap Doubles. Mcsdames Anstis and Feild (8) boat Mesdamcs Bedford and Sears (-9), 26—20. B Championship. Mrs. Burnett beat Mrs. Sinclair 26—19. Semi-final: Mrs. Burnett beat Mrs. Marshall, 26—11; C. Bryan beat Mrs. Cook, 26—14. . Handicap Singles—B Grade. Mrs. Cook (7i) beat Mrs. Gerke (7), 26—23. To-day’s Play. Tho following games were pegged out last evening and the following players are required at 8.30 a.m.:— Mrs. MeMurray and Mrs. Anstis. Mrs. Tucker and E. Simpson (handicap singles, A grade). Mrs. Burnett and C. Bryan (final B championship).
