From Our Own Correspondent. The final R.S.A. old-time dance held last Thursday evening, which was attended by well over 200 people, was an unprecedented success. The floor was in excellent condition and with a professional orchestra in attendance, dencing proceeded merrily until the early hours. Much appreciated extras were played by Mesdames J. E. Hewitt and M. J. Martin. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss L, Tremewan and Mr. Blixt, while a competition for a large and beautifully iced cake which had been donated for the purpose was annexed by Air. C. Russell. General regret was caused by tlie fact that Airs. A. Blixt, who had done so much towards making these functions such an outstanding success, was, owing to sickness, unfortunately unable to be present, and the large gathering joined in wishing her a speedy recovery. On behalf of the R.S.A. social committee, Mr. J. Edmond spoke appreciatively of the manner in which tho social evenings had been controlled by Air. F. A. Dunstall, and he had great pleasure in asking him to accept a small token of esteem from fellow "diggers.” During the supper interval, Mr. AV. N. Brewer congratulated the committee, Alessrs J. C. Fox, W. Drummond,. AV. Payne, H. Bristow and J. Edmond, on the success of the functions and assured them that by' organising these old-time dances, thereby catering for both young and old, they had filled a gap in local aocial life. In connection with the proposal to organise a further series of dances in order to raise funds to provide a Christmas treat for the children, Air. Brewer was sure that, the commitee would have the sympathy and practical s u PP° rt o£a '! residents of the district. The ladies committee, by whom the supper arrangements had been so successfully carried out at each of the evenings, were accorded a vote of thanks and gratitude. Among those present were Mesdames E.
