From Our Own Correspondent. The Milson Progressive Association’s dance held on Thursday night proved to be one of the most enjoyable held ill Milson for some time. The attendance was good, both local and district patrons attending. The M.C. was Mr. E. Bulmer. Novelty dances, such as the Robber waltz, caused much amusement. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Scofrar and Mr. Benton. Excellent music was supplied by a professional orchestra from Palmerston North. The floor, which was prepared by the committee, was in excellent condition for dancing. Supper was handed round by > the committee and a willing band of lady helpers. The evening proved a huge success and everyone enjoyed themselves until the last dance was called at X a.m. Extra dances were played by Miss D. Beattie, of Palmerston North. The prizes for the Monte Carlo waltz were kindly donated by Watcliorn’s Ltd. The second learners’ dance proved a bigger success than the first one, many new faces being present and well over to persons being present. The supper was donated by Mesdames Poole, Toon, Dewhurst, Britton, Hoskins, Robbie and Taylor. Excellent music was supplied by Mr. Spencer, of Palmerston North, while Mr". Dewhurst had charge of the floor and proved a capable M.C.
Tennis,
The Milson Tennis Club opened the season with a Yankee tournament on Sunday afternoon. In the absence of the president (Mr. G. Fairey), Mr. F. Grigg thanked the members for electing hint club captain and stated that lie hoped the club would have a successful season, both socially and financially. He then declared the season opened. The following is a detailed list of the games. First round: Fairbairn and Grigg beat Miss Young and young, 6—o; Mrs. Dunn and Donaldson lost to Mrs. Poole and Gilbert, 4—G; Miss Fairburn ancl Dunn beat Mrs. Grigg and Brown, G—4; Mrs. Rasmussen and Rasmussen beat Mrs. Donaldson and Fairburn, G—o. Second round: Miss Fairburn and Young lost to Miss Young and Brown. 26; Fairburn and Rasmussen lost to Dunn and Poole, 3—6; Mrs. Dunn and Donaldson lost to Mrs Rasmussen and Grice 3—6; Mrs. Donaldson and Gubei t lost to Mrs. Grigg and W. Fairbairn, 2 Third round; Mrs. Rasmussen and Donaldson beat Mrs. Fairburn and Jairhuin. 6—2; Miss Fairburn and Gilbeit heat Poole and Young,G—s; Mrs. Donaldson and Brown beat Miss Young and Grigg, 6—3; Mrs. Grigg and Rasmussen lost to Mrs. Dunn and Dunn, 5—6. Fourth round: Mrs. Donaldson a Donaldson beat Gilbert and Poole, 4-o, Mrs. Rasmussen ana Gvigff beat Mls Fairburn and Dunn, 4—l. ~ , The two remaining sets were tailed off owing to the commencement of rain. Mrs. Rasmussen was the winner with -- games, with W. Poole second wth 2< Xomes Dunn and Grigg tied with lgames' each, and Gilbert was next with IS The n recent competition run in connection with the Tennis Club was won by Mrs Stevenson, of Olungaiti, with Clark second, During the afternoon the ladies handed round afternoon, tea.
