Tho Daily Herald’s Vienna correspondent says that the body' of a man, apparently a German Jew, with botli hands pierced as though ho had been crucified was recovered front the Danube.’ His face was terribly injured by blows and his body was blue from beatings. Tho Austrian police believe that the man was tortured to death by Nazis in Germany and then thrown into the river near Nuremburg.

Grandson of Mendelssohn Dismissed From Post JEWISH DESCENT OBJECTED TO. Received Oct. 3, 7 p.m. BERLIN, Oct. 3. Dr. Mendelssohn Bartholdy, grandson of the composer, has been dismissed from his post as Professor of International Law at Hamburg University, owing to his Jewish descent. Refugees From Germany

DISCUSSION AT GENEVA.

GENEVA, Oct. 2.

The League Assembly, without discussion, referred a Dutch motion regarding refugees in Germany to a second committee which deals with economic subjects and also to the Budget Committee, to consider the expenditure involved. Germany abstained from voting on the subject. In the course of the discussion on the Palestine mandate by tho Sixth Committee, a Norwegian suggested that it was appropriate for tho Mandate Commission to consider German-Jewish refugees in connection with the successful Jewish settlement of Palestine. Mr Ormsby-Goro said that Palestine could not be the solo effective solution of the German refugee problem. Allocations of Jewish settlers in Palestine were being dealt with by friendly arrangement between tho British and German authorities at Berlin.
