From Our Own Correspondent, Jubilee Committee.

A meeting- of the executive was held on Monday night when Mr. E. J. Bowater presided over a good attendance. The various sub-committees reported satisfactory progress in their respective duties. Mr. C. Eglintor. reported that the Bedding Salvation Army Band would come out for the Saturday function but would not be able to reach Sandon until about 1.20 p.m. The question was held over until next Monday. Mr. J. M. Croucher said he had asked Colonel Whyte if the Palmerston North Garrison Band could make the trip for'the Sunday service and expected a definite answer during the week. The secretary, Mr J. M. Croucher, submitted a draft letter proposed to be sent to old settleis and old pupils. Briefly the letter is as follows:—The celebrations will commence with a dinner at the public hall at 12 noon on Friday, November 24. Special invitations are to be forwarded to the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe, Prime Minister, Hon. B. Masters, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Mr. J. Llnklater, M.P., chairman and members Wanganui Education Board, Mr. W. A. Swanger, late secretary, and the chairman and members of the Manawatu County Council. On Friday evening there will be a Coster ball, on Saturday a gala day when the children will be specially catered for, Saturday night a community sing and concert, Sunday a service of commemoration at the Recreation grounds. The committee wish to obtain a collection of old photographs, deeds, etc., in connection with early settlement and a loan of these would be appreciated. Every care will be taken for their safe custody. Special points: The dinner is for old pupils and old settlers who are over 40 years of age and who have been resident in the district for 20 years. The success of the jubilee depends on the presence of all who can possibly attend and it is hoped that every effort will be made to Iff end A very successful meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. Boy Scouts, meeting to consider the question of forming a Scout troop was held on Tuesday night when Mr. G. T. Francis presided over an attendance of five adults and eight boys. It was resolved to form a Scout troop and a provisional committee was elected with Mr. A. Anderson secretary pro tern. Mr. I. A. Cockburn was elected acting Scoutmaster. It was decided to commence an instructional class on Friday night. After the boys present lifid been enrolled, the ch<iirmQ.n, Mr" Francis, briefly addressed them. The meeting concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.
