Unemployed Registrations at Feilding
STEADY AT 200 MARK
ALLOCATION BED USED
When the unemployed registrations were being considered at yesterday's meeting of the Feilding Unemployment Committee it was stated that the weekly allocation had been reduced to set off the prospective seasonal employment now approaching.
The figures regarding the amount of the allocations were not made available to the Press, and following a discussion it. was decided on the motion of Messrs J. »S. Tin gey and P. G. Guy to register a protest, to the Unemployment Board against the "cut’’ operating so early in the season, and recommending that it be deferred until midNovember.
The registration figures were reported upon by Mr C. Clark (certifying officer) ns follows:—Week ending September !), 20S; September IC, 205; September 23, 201; September 30, 207. Mr P. G. Guy: The figures are not going down much.
The Mayor (Mr C. E. Taylor): No, they arc not going down as much as I would like,' Mr Guy.
Iu regard to seasonal work Mr A. Campbell said that this was already commencing with tho sheep farmer, who required extra labour to carry hnn over this season of tho year.
Members were in agreement that the “cut,’’ which operated last year round about December, had been introduced too early, and that the Unemployment Board should be prevailed upon to withhold action until nt least midNovember.
