Mrs. W. E. Marshall A'Deane, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Bailey A'Deane, Takapau, Hawke's Bay, has returned to Sydney.

The many frionds of Mr. David 8011, “Strathspey,” Feilding, will be glad to learn that early in the week and accompanied by Mrs. Bell lie returned home from Hamner, having made an excellent recovery from his recent severe illness.

After filling her position as head of the mantle department at tho C. M. Eoss Co. Ltd., in a most efficient manner for over eight years, Miss MeAnulty has resigned to take up a position with a Dunedin firm. Miss McAnulty will leave for the south in about three weeks' time and she will take with her the good wishes of a wide circle of friends.

At the conclusion of the “Champion North” season on Wednesday evening the presentation of a beautiful leather bound copy of Barrie's plays was made by Eev. D. J. Davies, vicar of St. Peter's Church, Terraco End, to Mrs. S. T Bristow, the producer of this very successful play The presentation was made on>behalf of the choir of St. Peter’s Church, for the organ, fund of which parish, tho play was staged. In handing the gift to Mrs. Bristow in recognition of her servicos, Mr. Davies congratulated her on the success which she had achieved.

The Earl of Eanfurly, sometime Govoraor of New Zealand, whose death was announced this week, will, bo succeeded in the title and estates by his grandson, Viscount Northland, aged 20. The mother of this young peer has the somewhat unusual distinction of having been married four times, states an exchange. Her first husband was the late Lord Eanfurly's only son and heir, Viscount Northland, who was killed in action in 19.15, being survived by his widow and two sons. Lady Northland remarried in 1917 the Hon. Geoffrey Mills, son of Lord Millington, who died the same year; in 1918 Captom J. S. Michael Wardell, of the 10th Hussars, became her third husband. Some years later she divorced him, and in 1929 took as her fourth husband Mr Julian Joseph Lezard, of Kimberley, South Africa. A writer in an. exchange says:—“lt has been, written by a cynic that a second marriage Is a triumph of faith, over experience! What a fourth, must, be staggers the imagination! ”
