Central Swimming Club
A SUCCESSFUL SEASON ANTICIPATED Mr E. Bary presided over a well attended annual meeting of the Central Swimming Club on Wednesday evening. The report presented to the meeting showed that tho club had been very successful in championship and competitive events, while members had. assisted in encouraging junior swimmers. The total membership for last season was S 3, and the prospects for tho coming season show that, this total will be maintained. Throughout the winter months gymnasium classes were held in the assembly hall and members had benefited considerably.
The following officers were eleetod for the coming season: —Patron, Mr E. Bary; president, Mr R. L. C. Aitchison; vice-presidents, Messrs W. G. Black, A. Gordon, A. E. Kesrslake, L. Sirnmonds, W. Cadwalladcr, G. H. Jarrett, C. E. Taylor, R. Tait, W. Garden and G. L. Snelling; club captain, Mr W. R. Eyre; vice-captain, Mr H. Palmer; club coach, Mr W. Nichols; secretary-treasurer, Mr E. C. Coates; handicapp&r, Mr W. Eyre; executive committee, Mrs C. Coates, Miss G. Simmonds, Messrs W. R. Eyre, W. Nichols, W. Fitzgerald, J. Ryan, L. Sirnmonds, C. Brian, H. Palmer and E. C. Coates; auditor, Mr McHwraith; delegates to Manawatu Contre, Messrs W. Nichols and W. Fitzgerald. It was decided that club nights be Monday and Thursday. Subscriptions were fixed at men 2s fid, ladies 2s, juniors under 16, Is. Mr Mcllwraith Intimated that, he would present a cup for the most improved swimmer during tho coming season. Votes of thanks wero accorded 'to tho school committee for the use of the assembly hall for a gymnasium, Misses E. Sirnmonds and M. Snelling for assisting at the piano for the gymnasium, and to all who helped in any way towards the success of tho past season.
