Bulls
From Oar Own Correspondent. Local Shooters in Form. The team of local riflemen who took part in the Wellington district miniature rifle championships last week gave a very good account ■ of themselves. T. Prichard, of Bulls, finished up second in The championship after shooting off shot tor shot with Ken Lumsden, of Sanson. Prichard rang on 13 consecutive bulls before he could reach finality. In all he won £4 5s at the meeting, which is ft Very good performance. . I Shooting at the Wanganui Championship on Wednesday night, AI. Banks won the handicap sweepstake shoot after a shoot off with several others. Personal. Mr. Ivan Fausina. of the clerical staff of Greatford railway station, who was a. prominent member of the Bulls football team, has been transferred to Thorndon. Mr. and Mrs. H. Alderwick, erstwhile Jesidents of Bulls, are at present visiting friends in the township. At the installation of officers of the Rangitikei Masonic Bodge on Tuesday night, Mr. W. A. Winstanley (formerly of Bulls, and now resident at Marton) was installed in the Chair, Rod and Gun Club Formed.
A public meeting wa« held in Bulls on Tuesday evening to' consider the advisability of forming a rod' and gun club, Mr. H. A. Goodall presiding. Air. P. Whisker, in' explaining the purport of the meeting, stressed the necessity for protecting fishing and game, and said that'the distribution of same should be done in such a manner as to ensure their thriving. If this was done, he considered the genuine sportsmen,- wtio paid license fees, would get some return for their money. After some discussion it was decided to form a club to be known as the Lower Rangitikei Rod and Gun Club. The following then became members: Alessrs W. J. Guy, J. Simpson, J. JlTontgomery, G. D. Flower, C. C. Price. ,T. E. Walker, H. Meads, G. W. Simpson. A. W. Anion, R. J. Gray, R. A. Wilson, ,E. Simpson, H. Last-Harris, J. Hammond, F. Simpson, A. W. .Blanchard, C. W. Duncan, G. H. Archer and A. Ellery. Jt was resolved that subscriptions be 5s per year and the committee - (Alessrs Goodall, Last-Harris, Flower, Guy and J. Simpson) was deputed to draw up rules for submission to the next meeting. The Acclimatisation Society's Ranger (Mr.-T. Andrews, of Palmerston North) attended the meeting and gave members some useful information. He pointed out that the experimental pond put out by Messrs Guy, Simpson and Whisker contained some 2700 trout fry which he hoped would turn out all right, in which case it would be enlarged to take -0,000 fry, pie said that the sandill country in the neighbourhood of the Rangitikei river would be ideal for the liberation of Pheasants. Pheasants liberated on similar country at Barber's run were doing splendidly, a great number having been shot this season. Judging by the enthusiasm displayed by those present it is obvious that Rangitikei sportsmen will find conditions much more satisfactory. Before the meeting concluded it was derided to appoint Mr. P. Whisker to tne position of secretary and treasurer. Wanganui Championship Meeting.
