Monthly Meeting of W.D.F.U., Feilding

There was a very -satisfactory attendance at the W.D.F.U. meeting at their rooms on Friday, October <3, Airs. J. Williamson, president, being in the chair. Apologies were received from Afesdamcs 0. Ecvington Jones, B. K. Bennett, D. L. Younger, Af. D. Coiquhoun, L, -J. Wild, P. B. Simpson, Dewar and Aliss Dewar. The hon. secretary reported two housekeepers were being employed in the district at the present time. Alinutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letters of thanks were received from Mesdames McVicar and J. Darragh and Alessrs Ivo McLennan (Halcombe) and Gordon (Taihape). It was proposed and seconded that the following ladies be elected members of the branch: Alesdames J. Crook (Colyton), J. Williamson, junr. (Waituna), D. A\. Reid and Allen (Feilding). A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Airs. Alason Durie and her sons for the evening they recently held at Aorangi on behalf of piano funds which benefited by the substantial amount of £7 15s. The president wishes to convey ner thanks to all members who assisted Airs. Durie with supper. The piano has since been purchased for the rooms. The club secretary reported on the business of the month. Owing to a number of cancellations regarding the hiring-of the rooms it was decided that in future a booking fee be charged, 2s fid for evenings and Is for afternoons. The final arrangements for the birthday party lo be held on Friday next were" discussed. The president wishes to remind all members that they are expected to contribute to the afternoon tea, on that occasion. After business was dispensed with, dainty refreshments were handed round and the meeting was brought to a close with a small number of pianoforte selections. The guest- of honour at the birthday party will be Airs. Poison, of Stratford, wife of Mr. W. Poison, AI.P., Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union. Airs. Poison, who was the founder of the W.D.F.U., will give an address that will assuredly bo of very great interest.
