Sanson Public School

DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION

In connection with the arrangements for the celebration of the diamond jubilee of the Sanson school and district, an invitation was rcecivod at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council for councillors to attend the old settlers’ dinner to be held at noon on Friday, November 24. Iu a further letter, Mr. J. W. Croucher, secretary of the Sanson Jubilee Committee, stated that a procession of decorated vehicles would be held on Saturday, November 25, and the committee requested permission for the use of the county motor lorries.

Further correspondence in connection with the jubilee celebrations was received from the Sanson branch of the Plunket Society and the Sanson Women’s Institute, requesting the use of the county lorries for the purpose of arranging an axhibit in the procession of decorated vehicles. The council had no hesitation in agreeing to accept the invitation and gave its permission for the use of the county lorries. It was agreed to declare a county holiday on the Saturday to facilitate the preparation of the lorries.
