Sydney Wool Workers Call Off Strike
MELBOURNE MEAT TROUBLE STILL UNSETTLED Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 10. The wool and basil workers have called off their- strike, which has disturbed the industry for a fortnight. -The men will present themselves for work, to-morrow. A Melbourne message says that all meat export works operating to-day were guarded by police. The union pickets made no attempt to interfere with the volunteer workers. There seems little prospect of a settlement by negotiation. Attack n Buses Carrying Free Labour MELBOURNE, Oct. 10. Police and strikers at North Geelong came into conflict when motor buses carrying volunteer slaughtermen to the meatworks were attacked by strikers. The police escorting the buses charged the crowd. Three persons were arrested, and the rest dispersed.
