Feiiding Swimming Club
ANNUAL REPORT j The Feiiding Amateur Swimming Club’s annual report refers to the success of the past season, and records * membership of -12. The night swimming again proved to be very popular, especially the club nights. It is vor\ gratifying to note the number of spectators who attend theso club nights. After all expenseso were paid we finished up with a credit balance of £6 15s lid, so that, apart from the interest •taken, they proved well worth having. The swimmers themselves take a lively interest in the. races. It is great training for' them. The club’s thanks are due to Messrs 3?. and C. Eadc for the handicapping of these mees. . The points cups were won by Miss P. Sporle and Mr P. Eade and Master T. Dewe. Me held two carnials during the season, both proving quite a success. At our first carnival a cup was presented by Mrs H. Parsonage in memory of her late husband, and this was won by G. Grindrod. U the New Zealand championships at* Invercargill, Miss P. Sporlc deadheated for second place m the New Zealand intermediate 220 yards, and was placed second in the New Zealand intermediate 100 yards. Mr L. Smitn was placed first, in the 220 yards New Zealand breaststroke championship at Napier. Tlj c under me n bio ne d ■& an awß. iu <• hampionships were won by the fol- \ lowing: Miss P. Sporlc won the 50yds, 100yds, J 00yds breaststroke, and intermediate lOOpds; intermediate 50yds, Miss O. Sporlc; junior 100yds breaststroke, Master S. Gaskin; intermediate 100yds, Mr G. Grindrod; men’s 22j yds, dive and 100yds, Mr L. Eade; 220 yds breaststroke, Mr L. Smith; Levin cup, 500yds, relay team, Miss P. Sporle, Messrs P. Eade, I. Palmer, G. Grinurod S. McCall; Manawatu schoolgirls' championship, Aliss D. Ewen; boys, 'Master T. Dewe. Feiiding Club cups went to: Earle cup, Mr G- Grindrod; Havbittle cup, Master T, Dewe; Bramwell cup, Air P. Eade; Eangitiltei cup, Air P. Eade; Fisher cup, ladies, Miss P. Sporle; Fisher cup, girls, Alisa F. Tollan. A safety line was erected in the children’s end of the baths at the be■rinninf of the season. This was made use of* quite a. lot by the children. Quite a number teamed lo swim win! the aid of the line. _ The reuort. offers thanks to all 'lie ladies who so kindly assisted at the carnivals, the gentlemen who acted as officials, the swimmers from the surrounding districts, and our own swimmers who supported the club so ably at carnivals and club nights; also the Borough Council for the extensive repairs to the seating accommodation.
