METHODIST CLUB OPENING Yesterday afternoon the Methodist Tennis Club, Feilding, opened its season, a good number of players and visitors taking-part in the proceedings, over which the Eev, E. 0. Blamircs presided. In declaring the courts open the Eev. Mr Blamircs remarked upon the enthusiasm among the young people for the game of tennis and stressed the value derived from wholesome recreation, whereby people -were brought closer together. He was pleased to congratulate Miss Bertha Bridge, the now secretary, and referred to the work of the past officials of the club—Miss K. Gifford, the late secretary, and Mr Whitehead, the past club captain. He had to apologise for the absence of Mr Jones, t-ho club captain, who was on holiday in Hastings. The speaker had also to welcome the visiting players, whom he thanked for their eo-openi-
