Cheltenham
From Our Own Correspondent. Official Opening of Tennis Courts. On Saturday afternoon last tbo Cheltenham tenuis courts were opened for the coming season, there being present a large number of members, intending members and visitors from other clubs. In opening the courts the patron, Mr. C. G. C. Dormer, complimented the club on tbo success of its last season and wished it every success in the one to come. To celebrate the occasion a clock tournament was held but a strong wind prevailed and play was therefore somewhat difficult. Mrs. Drewitt and Mr. S. Waugh, of lvimbolton, carried off the trophies. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mcsdames E. Sinclair, McFarlane, Ireland and Bismark. The club’s birthday cake, won by Mr. Waddell at the recent tennis dance, occupied a prominent position on the tea. table and was cut by Mrs. Dermer for each of those present to sample. Mr. Dernier later thanked Mr. Waddell for the gracious act of sharing- his win with his fellow members and visitors.
