Prom Our Own Correspondent. The Longburn Miniature Rifle Club bold its annual championship shoot on Monday night. The A grade championship resulted in C. Cooksley, W. Birch and W. Grace being level with totals of 238 out of a possible 210. The shoot-off resulted in a win for W. Grace, who fired 13 shots before dropping a nine. C. Cooksley was runner-up with 11 consecutive bull 3, W. Birch having dropped out early. The B grade championship was won by R. Cooksley with a total of 237, with 11. Rlchai-dson runner-up with 230 points. Tha C grade was poorly contested, only two shooters entering. The shooting, however, was of a high order. R. Cooksley won the event with 13S out of a possible 140, W. Francis scoring 135. R. Cooksloy is to be congratulated upon his fino performance in winning both the C and tha B grade championships. It is his first season and ho performed exceptionally well, only dropping one point per card. The following are the detailed scores:— A grade championship: W. Grace 69, 69. 70—235: C. C. grade championship: R. Cooksley 69, 69—138; W. Francis 69, 66—135. A very enjoyable party was given Miss F. Fletcher at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher by Mr. and Mrs. Bateman, of Wanganui, on the occasion of her 21st, birthday. . The following toasts were honoured: "Miss Fletcher," proposed by her father and responded to by Miss Bateman; "Mr. and Mrs, Bateman,” proposed by Mr. S.. Martin. Mr. E. Jewell congratulated Miss Fietcher, and on behalf of the guests, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Bateman and Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher for the enjoyable evening. Miss Fletcher was presented with a, golden key which was autographed by all. Dancing, games and competitions were held during the evening, the dance music being supplied by Mrs. Fletcher, Miss R. Birch, Miss M. Rowland and Mr. I. Frazer. A competition was won by Miss M. Bell and Mr. I. Frazer, and a statue Waltz by Miss R Birch and Mr. E. Jewell. The evening closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.” Among thos6 present were Mr. and Mrs. W. Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Bateman, Mrs. J. Calleson, Mrs. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. E. ' Marshall, Misses- F. Fletcher, B. Bateman (Wanganui), Coles (2), E. Doust (Wanganui), R. Birch, M. Rowland, Bell (3), Fletcher (3), Parker (2), H. Hills, Hearsey (2). R. Marshall, P. Johnston, Messrs J. Fletcher, Frazer (2), E. Jewell, Rowland (2), Aldersley (2), R. Laing, S. Martin, A. Ploen, Fletcher (3), G. Bel!. Miss J. Rowland has returned home
after spending a few weeks with Mr. and Mrs, G. H. Passey, of “Itivcrina,” Foliangina.
