Taonui
From Our Own Correspondent. There was a representative attendance of residents of Taonui and Aorangi at a meeting which was held in Taonui school on .Monday evening last for the purpose of discussing ways and means of raising funds with which to repair the local tennis courts. Mr. E. Clevely was elected chairman and treasurer and Mr. Osborne secretary. It was decided to hold a garden party in the school grounds aSout the end of November with stalls as follow: —Ice cream, produce, sweets, fancy, sheep weight guessing, Christmas tree, nail driving, tennis competitions, miniature golf, sports for children and afternoon tea. To canvass the district for gifts for the stalls, a comniitteo was set up comprising Mrs. Hunter-Cochrane, Messrs E. Clevely, It. Tait, It. A. McFarland. As a conclusion to the day’s activities it was decided to hold a dance in the evening in the school. The school grounds are one of the beauty spots of the district and should prove an ideal place for such a function.
