Euchre and fiance at Kakariki

The weekly euchre and dance at the Kakariki meeting-house iu aid of the Anglican Maori Mission on Friday night, was a great success. The hall was filled to capacity ,there being many visitors from Palmerston North, FeildiDg, Marton, Aorangi, Stanway and Tokorangi among tho gay throng. The function went with a. swing right from tho first dance and the ladies' committee responsible for the smooth, running of the dance arc to bo congratulated upon their efforts. Tho social items interspersing the dances proved most entertaining with L. Hakaraia in charge of the floor, everything went along merrily. The Variety Four supplied good music for the dancing, while Mrs. Clarke, of Fellding, Miss Kane and Mrs. Rcwai supplied extras. Heta Tauhiri sang and was encored and Mr. J. Ngatai did tho hula. Rev. Renata, of Marton, presented the prizes and. thanked everyone who sent in donations of cakes and lollies, etc. Mrs. Rcwai proved to bo tho winner of the lady's ouchre prize, Mrs. Graham 2nd., and Mrs. Bott consolation. Tho men’s prize was won by F. Thompson Ist., Mr. Mitchell 2nd., and Mr. Ted Rosser consolation. The winners of the spot waltz was Mr. T. Seddon and Mrs. L. Prior. Mr. Seddon kindly returned the spot waits prize.
