From Our Own Correspondent Town Board Meets.

The monthly meeting of the Hulls Town Board took place on Thursday night, there being present the chairman (Cmr. i J. E. Walker) and Cmrs. C. C. Price, C. B. Broughton, F. A. Holland, D. Lundy and C. 11. Edwards. Leave of absence was granted Cmr. M. C. Gould. Correspondence was received and dealt with as follows:—

Mr. It. Mackay, board solicitor, notified that tho board’s recent telegram to the Acting Prime Minister In reference to the decision of the Transport Appeal Board anent the limitation of service cars, had had some result. A conference had been held with the parties concerned, at which all viewpoints had been put forward, the Railway authorities admitting that this district evidently deserved some consideration. —Received. The Sanson Jubilee Committee asked to hire tho town hall crockery for an old settlers’ luncheon. —The board regretted that it had a rule which forbade the hall crockery leaving the building under any circumstances. Tlic Treasury notified that £45 las 7cl had been paid into the board’s account by way of subsidy.—Received. The foreman reported as follows: All main roads were graded eight times With the county grader. A trial stretch of road in front of IHe town hall was put down in a patent anti-dust solution. Relief workers have cleaned up weeds in footpaths in High and Bridge streets, and blackberry eradication work lias been carried out in tho domain and at the cemetery.

Finances: The collections for the month aggregated £145 2s Gd, the principal items being rents £23 19s_Gib rates £3l 2s lOd, subsidy on rates £45 15s 7d, heavy traffic fees £29 ISs sd, dog tax £1 10s, drivers’ licenses £3 ss, hawker's license £l, cemetery £2 15s, domain £2 15s Gd, librarv £3 Os Sd. The monthly payments totalled £llO 10s 2d. The works committee was instructed to have drains dug to remove storm water from tho vicinity of the footpath in Lower Bridge street.

Tho foreman was deputed to level the entrance to the motor camp with the aid ol’ unemployed labour. A long discussion took place on the question of tar-sealing the main roads in tho board's area, it being held that Bulls, considering the extent of its through traffic, was very badly served in this respect. It was decided to obtain an estimate for such work from tho Raiigitikei county engineer. Cmr. Holland raised the question of carting rubbish for townspeople, and the foreman was detailed to shift same once every three months.
