Utuwai

From Our Own Correspondent. On Wednesday evening the TJtuwai hall was once more the scene of much enjoyment when the McKegg brothers, of Umutoi, promoted a dar.ee. Though the attendance of tho function was not a record one, those present had the full enjoyment of a. well managed dance, a good floor, good music, and a delectable supper, the latter supplied by the McKegg brothers, while music was furnished by local talent. Lucky and novelty dances were the features of the evening, and much friendly rivalry was caused by the lucky balloon dance, eventually won by Miss A. Batchelar and her partner, Air. Harvey Mackenzie. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss D. Hemmings and Mr. B. Montgomery, and Miss M. I-larkness and Mr. J. Cawood. The winners of the lucky spot waltz were Miss M. Signal and Mr. L. Pawson. At a suitable interval, a lucky number was drawn, and Mr. L. Duffy was announced the winner of a large and beautifully decorated cake. The dance continued well into the small hours. Another dance will be held in the Utuwai hall, inaugurated by the younger members of the Women’s Institute, in aid of tho Christmas tree funds.
