From Our Own Correspondent. The annual meeting of the Tennis Club was held on Tuesday night when a good attendance of members were present. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of a little over £2. The president, Air. J. B. Bennett, vice-presidents, Mrs. W. Scott and Messrs L. Hunter and M. Harker, and tho secretary-treasurer, Miss J. P. Freeman, were re-elected. The new committee elected is: Airs. AV. Scott, Airs. Gordon, Aliss Raikes, Alessrs J. Scott, K. Beard, K. Cotton and E. AV. Tompson (representing school committee) . Airs. Howard and Air. AL Alills were also nominated but were defeated on a vote being taken. Alessrs AV. Scott and AV. Gordon acter as scrutineers The courts are to bo opene on Saturday next with a Yankee tournament run on the same lines as last year. Some discussion took place regarding te laying of another court, and several suggestions were made as to the medium to be used as an alternative to concrete. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to the price of bitumen in order to compare the cost with that of concrete. Arrangements are to be made for an umpire’s chair. All subscriptions are to be paid within one month or the opening of the court. A ladder competition is to be instituted, arrangements to be in the hands of the committee. A vote of thanks was accorded Airs. F. C. Raikes for a donation of £1 Is. A meeting of the committee was held when final arrangements were made for the tournament on Saturday. The weather records for tho month of September are as follow, the records for 1932 and 1931 being given for comparative purposes:—Average barometer 29.5 G (1932, 30.05, 1931, 29.5); average thermometer 51.8 (1932, 52, 1931, 51); rainfall 3.54 inches (1932, 2.71, 1931, 3.91); frosts 6 (previous years, no record); prevailing wind, west (7), east (7) (1932, no record, 1931, west).

Last Friday evening a dance was held in aid of the Foxton Silver Band. There was a fair attendance and music was supplied by members of the band. Air. E. Christensen was Af.C. A competition was won by K. Cotton. The evening was a financial success.

The final card and ping pong evening was held at the school on AVednesday last when, probably owing to daylight saving, Lliere was a poor attendance. The winners were as follow:—500: Ladies, Airs. Riori 1, Airs. Hobbs 2; men, S. Shailer 1, ,T. A. Conlau 2. Euchre: Ladies, H. Procter 1, J. Robertson 2; men, P. Rieliana 1, P. Rivers 2. Music for dancing was provided by Air. J. B. Bennett.
