Free State Constitution
Amending Bills Put Through Bail
NOW GO TO SENATE
United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, S p.m. LONDON, Oct. 13.
In tho Dail, Deputy O’Neill asked, "Is tho King now finally and irrevocably dead, constitutionally2” when discussion on the three Bills amending tho Constitution was resumed. Mr do Valera did not reply. Mr McDermott asked if tho Bills would affect the Lough Erno fishery rights going to the Privy Council. Mr de Valera said the result would be nullified if it conflicted with tho decision of tho Irish Supremo Court.
The Dail passed the third reading of tho Bills, which go to the Senate. The latter is entitled to hold them up for 18 mouths.
Professor O’Sullivan, protesting at a motion to adjourn till November 15, said it was necessary to watch tho do Valera Government, which was armed with immenso powers under tho Public Safety Act and applied them irresponsibly and tyrannically. Mr de Valera, summing up, criticised both the I.R.A. and the Blue Shirts. Tho position was difficult and dangerous, but the Government would not loosen its control.
The Dail adjourned till November 15.
